We can't possibly comprehend the range of emotions the people in and around Port Wentworth, Georgia felt when a thundering explosion nearly destroyed the Imperial Sugar Refinery, last month.
But we can understand and appreciate the compassion exhibited by the congregation of First Baptist Church on that day...and every day since. Pastor Sam Self says he learned 'the importance of today'. That one day changed so many lives forever. Pastor Self says the catastrophe helped his congregation deepen its faith not only in God but in each other. The people there still struggle. The explosion killed a dozen, injured so many more, and left hundreds out of work with no way to support their families. Along with your prayers, Pastor Self says you can help in a material way. You can donate to the United Way and specifically request that your money is applied to the relief effort in Port Wentworth. Make today more important...more meaningful...to you by helping in any way you can.
