Dennis' Mission Trip

Dennis from Indiana sent photos from his church's mission trip to Neon, Kentucky last summer. It looks like the group had fun and helped out a lot.

Behind the Scenes

It takes a lot of people working hard to put the show on the air. Patricia creates our graphics, and Randy is our director!

Chris Larson is our producer. He selects music, screens calls, gives us cues, advice and whispers sweetly in our ears--through the magic of technology--when we need to do something! Chris is also an Atlanta native, so he fills us in on Georgia restaurants, tourist spots and sports trivia.

Kelly helps make us look more presentable--she's a makeup artist! She is a luxury for Larry and me--old news reporters like us are used to having to do our own makeup.
I thank God for all these sweet and creative people. They make coming to work a pleasure!

TV Debut

What's more fun than friends and food?

Having them on your TV Debut!

OK, I'm a terrible poet... but we sure had fun yesterday adding "Mornings" to FamilyNet Television. The most fun part: having Duane and Lewis, regular callers come visit. We asked them to come up to the set and we got to introduce them to each other and to our new audience. We really appreciate those of you who prayed for us and even fasted! It made a difference.

Josh's Birthday!

We have prayed for this little boy since before he was born! Isn't it exciting to see him as a happy and healthy one-year-old?

Jeep Love

Larry and I both worked at the Automotive Satellite Television Network in the 1990's. So we learned how passionate people are about their cars and trucks. You may have heard Dennis call in last week and tell us how much he and his wife enjoy their Jeep.
To back it up, Dennis sent a photo!

If you're into Jeeps, you may have attended a Jeep Jamboree. I once worked with a guy that bought a Jeep just so he could attend one of these events. I hear they're lots of fun. If you have a story to tell about your Jeep, let us hear it!

"Small Town Big Miracle"

If you missed today's "Mornings" program, you missed a real blessing. A tiny town in Texas, Posssum Trot, population about 300, has accomplished something truly monumental. Bishop W.C. Martin, of the Bennett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, will immediately give the credit to God. But I'm sure He'd happily share it with the Bishop. The Bishop, his wife, Donna, and the church congregation, adopted 72 children...rescued them...from foster homes in Dallas, Houston, Beaumont, and Wichita Falls. These children define brokenness...putting precious faces to evil words like abuse, neglect, abandonment. The Bishop and his wife adopted four themselves including a little boy named Tyler...a child afraid of the sound of running water because he came to know hot water as a punishment tool before the Martins rescued him from a life no child should have to live. Others learned to eat meals very fast...worried they might not get another. And some misbehaved in school just to get sent home where they had finally found love and acceptance. Though these kids came with so much hurt and anger in their lives...feelings that admittedly created emotional, spiritual and financial hardships on the loving families who adopted them...not a single child wound up back in foster care. And the church wants to adopt more! If ever anyone breathed life into Matthew 18:10, these people did. "See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven." Bishop Martin has lovingly told this inspiring story in a book: "Small Town Big Miracle". Want to bless your life today? Read it.

Name the Rooster

We are having a contest to name Daybreak's Georgia cousin. This little rooster is growing up on Duane's poultry farm!

Please submit your name idea to us by email by sending a message to Mornings (at sign) FamilyNet (dot) com.

Or put a stamp on a postcard or letter and send it to "Mornings" in care of FamilyNet at 3836 DeKalb Technology Parkway, Atlanta GA 30340.

We look forward to hearing your great idea!

Our New Studio and Set

Here it was on Friday! Several hard-working FamilyNet employees worked over the weekend to make sure all systems would work by Monday. We had to have microphones, computers and phone lines operational to put "Mornings" on the air.

Al, Eli, John, Eric and a few more get lots of credit, because by the time Larry and I walked in at 5 a.m. Monday... the set looked like it was almost ready for television! Thanks to Scott Miller for taking the photos.

If you look closely, you can see Larry on the right and me on the left! It will look even better when we get images to put in the monitors and on the screens! Note the seats for a studio audience! We'd love to meet you!

Another Back Yard Visitor

Here's the picture from Emile about HIS back yard guest. This feathered friend is much lovelier than the o'possum that visited the Allens.

Emile says, "This bird came to visit me in my backyard this summer. He really scared Laurie because she'd be hanging out her clothes, and he would just sit and stare at her. I went out to see him and he let me come right up to him, so I shot him, with a camera of course.. lol Scott Juvette may have shot him being the hunter he is."

Emile and I don't know what kind of bird this is. Do you know? If so, please let us know!

Matthew West

We had a fun guest with a meaningful message today. Matthew West is a Christian singer and songwriter based in Nashville. He visited our studio to talk about his new CD, Something to Say. For those of you who got to hear the story behind the song "Life Inside You," the happy ending is that the couple got married and had the baby!

Matthew promised to visit again. Maybe next time, Larry and I won't look so sleepy!

The Visitor in the Back Yard

If you were listening to the program today, you heard me talk about the unexpected guest who climbed the tree in our back yard. It sure scared our little dog, Buffy. I know God makes all creatures, but he sure made this one scary looking!

I learned the real inestimable value of of 'family time' this Christmas. I joined my wife, 28-year-old son, and 24-year-old daughter playing some traditional board games around a small table in the breakfast room. And we had a wonderful time! Nothing high tech. And, for thsoe who know me, nothing that required a lot of thought. I never want games to take on the appearance of work. No, we went for frenetic, high energy, action games. Yatzee, Sorry, Connect Four. We played like kids...laughed a lot and just enjoyed each other's company. Like so many other families, we fall victim to the pace of life and often don't share enough time with each other. But I found those moments the best gift we exchanged at Christmas. And it didn't require wrapping paper and a bow to make it special. We needed just one more person to complete a perfect picture...my son-in-law, still deployed in Iraq. By the grace of God, he comes home in April. I hope you'll make an effort to share some family time. And don't wait for a special occasion or holiday. Why not today?

Snow Days

Happy New Year! It's meaning Happy New Snow to many of our listeners! Here's a picture Emile sent from Moncton. Brrr...
